Extra Sensors

The normal V2 sensors are not really enough. People can hide behind trees and fire at someone else with their sensors completely hidden so no one can hit them. But sensors are fairly expensive to buy. When I came across a post by laserbullet on the Unofficial Laser Tag Home Page Message Board talking about using fiber optics to "route" the IR to the sensor... *grins*

How to make your own

These "sensors" are very useful and make it so there are less ways to cheat. To make your own, you first need to buy some large diameter(2.00mm works fine) fiber optics. You will need about 3 feet per sensor/gun, as to not restrict the range of movement of the gun(so the gun is not stuck 2 inches away from your sensor). I bought my fiber optics from www.thefiberopticstore.com. They stopped selling it by the foot, so you need to get it in 50ft increments($25.99 + $3.00 S&H), so this is not a good idea for just one person, but works just fine for a larger group.
Once you have your fiber optics, cut it into about 3 foot lengths. You must then attatch one end to where you want the target to be. For this part I just used alot of hockey tape to hold it nice and securly right on my gun:)
The other end must then be attatched so it is facing a sensor, and is touching or almost touching the sensor. Attatching it to the front sensor works a bit better. Because of the weird contour of the sensor, you need to bend the fiber optics to fit nicely, then again, use lots of hockey tape or soemthing to hold it securly.
The fiber optics will get pulled out very easily, so, to prevent much strain on the places where it is taped, tie a string or a thin rope between the sensor and the gun. One end can be tied around the handle of the gun, the other around the little loop where the back sensor gets attached to (the place where you pull the strap into on the side). Voila! You now have a "Fiber optic sensor".
